What is Japanese Knotweed?
Despite Japanese Knotweed being a highly invasive and damaging plant, many people do not realise it will cause them a problem until it’s too late. Often not until it’s been picked up on a mortgage or ecology survey on the property or land they are buying, selling or developing.
When Japanese Knotweed is found on or within 7 metres of a property, mortgage or sales are usually delayed and can sometimes fall through.
In some cases, when buyers and sellers are in ‘chains’, a sale may fall through ‘along the chain’, due to delays leading to a loss of good faith and trust.
Our team of trusted experts, based in Cardiff, Swansea and South Wales, can provide you with a bespoke survey within 48 hours.

Japanese Knotweed Management Plan
Development advice onsite from a construction professional
Treatment Plan for Japanese Knotweed
5 or 10 year Insurance Backed Guarantee
Onsite advice, training and materials for construction companies
Homeowners & Buyers
We provide 5 or 10 Year Japanese Knotweed Treatment Programmes with Management Plans and Insurance backed guarantees.
You will be provided with a management plan describing an established method of treatment. The ‘live’ document will be updated each year to record progress and the methods being used.
When the land has been clear for 2 years, a ‘Japanese Knotweed Free’ Certificate will be issued. The Insurance backed guarantee will be in place for 5 or 10 years after the land has been certified clear. This protects the client in the unlikely event that Clearsafe Knotweed no longer exists.
Single Herbicide Applications
Some customers prefer to pay for their herbicide treatment programmes on a ‘spray by spray’ basis. A single treatment is unlikely to eradicate a Japanese Knotweed infestation but will stunt the growth temporarily.
Land Clearance
We specialise in land clearance around Japanese Knotweed infestations to avoid spreading the infestation.
Treatment for many other invasive weed species
Including Giant Hogweed and Himalayan Balsam.
Construction and Property Development
Building Development Consultation.

General Logistical Advice
To help plan and set up your site to minimise the risks of moving the infestation around the site or off-site.
Excavate and bund onsite
This method combines excavation and containment to a designated area on site for chemical treatment. This avoids the high cost of removal off-site.
Create an underground cell
The Japanese Knotweed materials can be buried in specially designed membranes to contain them until they are no longer viable. We provide on-site advice and look after the legal requirements of the regulator.
Excavate and Remove off-site
This solution is usually employed when development requires immediate use of the whole land. The infestation is dug up and removed via licensed waste carriers.
